The Teckman Mystery [1954] [DVD]Margaret Leighton (actor) John Justin (actor) Format: all-region dvd (worldwide) Runtime: 90 min Quality: Digital
There's more than a hint of The Third Man in this passable thriller, co-written by Francis Durbridge from his own BBC serial. John Justin looks suitably bemused as an author who discovers that the dead air ace whose biography he's been commissioned to write may not have perished after all.
Director Wendy Toye, who had staged her first West End ballet at the age of ten and made a deep impression with her 1952 debut short, The Stranger Left No Card, makes a reasonable fist at keeping the pace up and the clues hidden, but she's no Carol Reed.
Andy Warhol superstar Viva also survives from the 1969 fiasco, while Lisa Blount and James Brown are the ones involved in political cover-ups, drugs and blackmail in the 1980s video version. Confused? You still will be after watching the movie! |
