Made by Universal's television arm, this western drama stars the forceful Brian Keith as leader of impoverished Texas ranchers whose desperate actions bring them into conflict with the US Army. In a spurious attempt to add interest, the film ropes in Wild Bill Hickok (Robert Culp), Buffalo Bill Cody (James McMullan) and Calamity Jane (Judi Meredith) - a combination suggested by Cecil B DeMille's classic western The Plainsman.
