The Moon's Our Home [1936] [DVD]Margaret Sullavan (actor) Henry Fonda (actor) Format: all-region dvd (worldwide) Runtime: 80 min Quality: Very good Vhs transfer
The major attraction of this romantic comedy is the pairing of Margaret Sullavan and Henry Fonda, two of Hollywood's most attractive and gifted stars of the 1930s, who were married in real life for a stormy couple of years from 1931 to 1933. She plays a movie star, he's a writer and explorer; they fly in the face of temperamental incompatibility and marry.
The rest of the film, directed by William Seiter from a witty script that includes contributions from Dorothy Parker, is concerned with how they sort out their differences. It's all done with warmth and charm, though Sullavan, a uniquely moving dramatic actress, tends to overplay the comic tantrums. |
