Son of Fury [1942] [DVD]

In this historical nonsense set during the reign of George III, Tyrone Power is cheated out of his inheritance by George Sanders, falls in love with Frances Farmer and ends up on a Polynesian island with a heavily made-up, but skimpily costumed, native girl played by Gene Tierney. Having cast its most alluring stars, 20th Century-Fox threw money (though not much-needed Technicolor) at the production and the result was big box office. The stars perform well, especially Sanders as a snarling villain, and the supporting cast is worth a look, too - Roddy McDowall as the young Power, John Carradine as Power's buddy and Elsa Lanchester in a brief role.
