A smart and unpredictable B-thriller with Fred MacMurray as the cop who puts a bank robber's girlfriend (Kim Novak) under surveillance, only to fall in love with her himself. Novak's glamorous and glacial presence, not to mention the easy-going charm of Double Indemnity star MacMurray, makes this movie a sort of forerunner to Hitchcock's Vertigo.

The basic idea was reprised three decades later in the comedy Stakeout.

In the aftermath of a successful heist, a bank robber's girlfriend embarks on an affair with a stranger she meets in a bar, not realising he's an undercover cop.

When she learns the truth, she tries to seduce him into helping her make off with her lover's ill-gotten gains. Crime drama, starring Fred MacMurray, Kim Novak, Dorothy Malone and EG Marshall.
