A master conman leads a pair of British accomplices on an international adventure of highly profitable dirty tricks.

A jolly comedy, based on a novel by Len Deighton, the Ipcress File man, about three confidence tricksters (Richard Attenborough, David Hemmings, Alexandra Stewart) who begin plotting against each other. The succession of scams, disguises and surprises is very entertaining and builds to a quadruple-cross (multiple double-crossing was very popular at the time).

The production, in several glamorous locations, is amusingly trendy, in Swinging Sixties style, and Attenborough gives one of his most uninhibited comedy performances.
