A virtually unwatchable romantic drama, based on a James M Cain story, featuring a miscast (too old, too prissy) June Allyson, who falls for married conductor Rossano Brazzi in Munich. Instead of having a wonderful sensual adventure, she wastes time trying to decide between Brazzi and unappealing doctor Keith Andes.

Cult figure Douglas Sirk provides heavy-handed and humourless direction, and the substandard plot compounds these failings. Munich looks nice in CinemaScope, though.
